PewTranslate terms of service

PewTranslate turns the speech of a live service into text and machine translation that listeners follow on their own phones. Translation is automatic and can be wrong, incomplete or delayed. Do not rely on it where a mistake could cause harm, such as legal, medical or safeguarding conversations, vows or anything that needs a qualified interpreter.

• Give a real email address that you can receive mail at, and keep your password to yourself. You are responsible for what happens under your account.
• One account belongs to one church or organisation. Do not create extra accounts to collect more sign-up credit.
• The sign-up credit is given once per email address, when the address is verified. Addresses that differ only by a "+" tag, or by dots in a Gmail address, count as one address, and an address whose account was deleted does not receive it again.
• You must be old enough to enter into a contract where you live, and allowed to act for the church you register.

• Streams are paid from a prepaid balance. The price is $5 per hour of translated speech for each language someone is listening to, counted per started minute. The current prices are on the pricing page.
• New accounts receive $20 of credit, once per email address. The sign-up credit has no cash value, cannot be transferred and is never refunded.
• Streams are paid first from the sign-up credit and then from your top-ups, oldest first.
• A stream cannot start with an empty balance and stops when the balance runs out. Top-ups are paid through our payment provider Waffo, under its own terms.
• Unused balance: when you close your account, you can ask us to refund the part of your balance that you paid for and have not used. We send it back through Waffo to the payment method you used, starting with your most recent top-up. The sign-up credit is never refunded, and paid balance is not refunded while the account stays open, except where the law gives you a right to a refund.
• We may change prices for the future with at least 30 days' notice by email; a change never applies to a stream that already took place.

Use the service only for content you have the right to share. Do not use it to break the law, to harass anyone, to stream content you have no rights to, to probe or overload our systems, or to get around the balance and limits. We may suspend an account that does, and tell you why unless the law prevents it.

The audio, transcripts and translations of your services stay yours. You allow us to process them only to run the service for you: to recognise, translate, deliver and store them as described in the privacy policy. Your public church page shows the church name, description, location, website and public services you enter.

We work to keep the service available but cannot promise it will never be interrupted, for example by an internet outage at the church or a provider failure. We may change or improve features; if we stop the service altogether, we will tell account holders in advance.

You can stop using PewTranslate at any time and ask us to delete your account at hello@pewtranslate.com. When you close your account you can ask for a refund of paid, unused balance, as described under "Balance, prices and payment". We may end the agreement if you seriously or repeatedly break these terms.

The service is provided as it is. To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential losses, or for losses caused by translation errors, and our total liability is limited to the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law.
